Maryolga Nieto (Venezuela, 1963) tells big stories in more or less paintings. Color contracts (ranging from tender to splashing) and texture (through scratches in the paint or a build-up of layers of paint) play a major part in her vibrant canvases. Life is the subject of Nieto’s work. Capturing life is the essence of her artistic quest. One may enjoy the rich and forceful colors, while another perceives the balance between technical progress and nature.
